Some weddings feel like love letters, and Mara and Ryan’s wedding day was exactly that. Rooted in Mara’s Savannah upbringing and thoughtfully designed with personal, meaningful touches, their celebration was a seamless blend of elegance and emotional connection.

The day began where Mara’s story started: her mother’s historic home in Ardsley Park. Surrounded by her closest friends and the warmth of a place she’s always called home, the morning felt slow and sacred. It was more than just a getting-ready space—it was a reminder of the strong family foundation that shaped her, a space filled with quiet laughter, shared memories, and the anticipation of everything to come.

Mara and Ryan were married at Isle of Hope Methodist Church, the same church her family has long attended. After their first kiss as husband and wife, they stepped into something truly special: Mara’s first car, an Alfa Romeo her father lovingly restored to its original charm, was waiting to whisk them away. It was a moment that honored legacy, craftsmanship, and a father’s enduring love.

Their reception at Bethesda Academy felt like a dream. Nestled along the river beneath sweeping oaks and swaying Spanish moss, the setting radiated Southern romance. A sailcloth tent, open to the breeze and lit with golden sunset light, was filled with subtle nods to Mara and Ryan’s shared love of travel and their Italian honeymoon to come. From citrus tucked into the floral arrangements to olive oil favors thoughtfully placed at each seat, every detail reflected something personal. Even a paper airplane–making contest brought a touch of whimsy and joy that felt so them.

Mara’s father gave a moving toast that brought the room to tears, lovingly supported by Mara’s mom as he spoke. It was a moment that embodied the heart of the day: deep family bonds and a beautiful sense of belonging.

And then the party began. With the groomsmen’s cowboy hats flying and a live band that kept the energy electric, the dance floor stayed full well into the night.

These are the kinds of weddings I feel honored to photograph. The ones that are as rich in feeling as they are in design. Where every detail is chosen with heart, and where my couples are free to be fully present, knowing their memories are being captured with care and artistry.

If you’re dreaming of a wedding day where legacy, love, and celebration live side-by-side, I’d be honored to tell your story. Click here to inquire about your wedding photography.
