When it comes to hosting an unforgettable wedding reception in Savannah, few locations offer the raw character of Kehoe Iron Works. Known for its industrial architecture and expansive event space, most couples lean into the venue’s exposed brick and steel. But for this 200-guest celebration, Plume Event Co. reimagined the space entirely, bringing a moody, luxe vision to life inspired by Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil.
With draped walls, lush florals, and candlelit ambiance, the venue was completely customized. A custom vinyl-wrapped dance floor grounded the design, surrounded by tablescapes rich in color and texture, nodding to the Southern Gothic aesthetic of the iconic Savannah story. This was no ordinary reception, it was an experience.
From the moment guests arrived, they were immersed in the narrative. A live poetry writer welcomed each person with a personalized verse, setting the tone for the evening. A pair of living statue performers served as escort card displays, surprising and delighting guests as they came to life. These unexpected moments gave the evening a theatrical edge: elevated, intentional, and completely in tune with the spirit of Savannah.
As a photographer who’s worked in nearly every Savannah wedding venue, I’ve come to love how Kehoe Iron Works can be both a blank canvas and a character all its own. This reception was filled with transformation and creativity, while honoring the place that inspired it all.
If you’re planning your wedding reception and want a space that can carry both grandeur and soul, Kehoe Iron Works delivers. And if you’re dreaming of a design that tells a story as rich and layered as Savannah itself, I’d be honored to capture it for you.
